Case History: Miss Sai Nilesh Mule, 6 years old female. Who is suffering from large Os ASD. A large atrial septal defect can cause extra blood to overfill the lungs and overwork the right side of the heart. If not treated, the right side of the heart eventually grows larger and becomes weak. The blood pressure in the arteries and lungs can also increase leading to pulmonary hypertension. The atrial septal defect can be closed through surgery. A surgery repair usually involves using a tissue patch to close the ASD. The patient is being operated on in Balaji Heart Hospital and Diagnostic Centre Byculla – Mumbai.

Family Background: Her father works as a farmer and her mother is a housewife. Her father’s monthly income is only 6000/-. Since her father had to take care of the family and they are dependent on him, he is not in a position to bear the cost of the treatment of his daughter.
