Case History: Miss Pradnya B Patrigida, 2 year old female. Who is suffering from moderate large VSD. If the ventricular septal defect is large, the blood pressure in the lung arteries may increase. The heart then must work harder to pump blood. A large VSD can also increase the amount of blood flow in the lung arteries, causing congestion. A surgeon uses a patch or stitches to close the hole between the lower heart chambers. This type of VSD surgery requires a heart-lung machine and an incision in the chest. The patient is being operated on in Balaji Heart Hospital and Diagnostic Centre Byculla – Mumbai.

Family Background: Her father works as a farmer and her mother is a housewife. Her father’s monthly income is only 4000/-. Since her father had to take care of the family and they are dependent on him, he is not in a position to bear the cost of the treatment of his daughter.
