Case History: Mast. Gaurav Pandule, 07 year old boy, is suffering from Congenital Acyanotic Heart Disease, Perimembranous VSD plus Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR). A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a defect or hole in the wall that separates the lower two chambers of the heart. The effects of larger ventricular septal defects result from the shunting of blood across the defect causing excessive blood flow to the lungs. Surgical repair of a ventricular septal defect involves open heart surgery and placement of a prosthetic patch, sutured in place, that covers the defect. The patient is being operated on in Jehangir Hospital – Pune.

Family Background: His father works as a labourer and his mother is a housewife. His father’s monthly income is 5000/- since his parents’ financial condition is very poor and they have five members in his family. They are dependent on his father, he is not in a position to bear the cost of the treatment of his son.
